Clean and sustainable renewable energy technology is going to take responsibility of energy supply in electrical power systems. Using renewable sources improve the environment and reduce dependence on oil and other fossil fuels. In distribution power system, utilizing of wind and solar DGs comprises some advantages; consist of loss and emission reduction, and also improvement of voltage profile. So, in expansion planning of distributed generations, improvement of each of these parameters can be the objective of planner. In this paper, a mathematical model for sizing and placement of wind and solar DGs is proposed. The formulation is based on a probabilistic load-generation model. The stochastic nature of the wind and solar resources are considered in the proposed scenario-based model. This mathematical framework is used to minimize total annual loss as an objective function. All the network constraints in different operational conditions are regarded. The model is applied on a typical rural distribution network using GAMS software which illustrated the effectiveness of the model.

The availability of sufficient and economic online capacity to support the network while encountering disturbances and failures leading to supply and demand imbalance has a crucial role in today distribution networks with high share of Distributed Energy Resources (DERs), especially Renewable Energy Resources (RESs). This paper proposes a two-stage decision making framework for the Distribution Management System (DMS) to flexibly optimize the day-ahead schedule of DERs and market participation of distribution networks under uncertainties, imposed by DGs outage and wind generators. The uncertainties are modeled via scenarios and convolved with each other, and then the joint scenario set is applied in the proposed two-stage programming model. Also the role of network constraints on DMS decisions are seen via a linearized AC power flow model and finally the resulted proposed framework is based on mixed-integer-linear programming (MILP) layout solved by CPLEX 12.6. To examine the effectiveness of the proposed framework, it is used for decision making of DERs scheduling and market participation strategy of a test distribution network.

Parallel connection of inverter modules is a solution to increase reliability, efficiency and redundancy of inverters in Micro-Grid system. Proper load sharing among parallel inverters is a key point. The circulating current among the inverters can greatly reduce the efficiency or even cause instability of the system. In this paper, a control strategy for improving the load sharing performance in order to reduce the circulating current among parallel inverters in islanding micro-grid is proposed. The control strategy includes an estimator for filter parameters, which compensates for any possible uncertainty or drift of their value. Also a double loop feedback control, with an outer voltage and inner current control, is adopted that provides excellent operation at transient and steady-state conditions. Finally, the proposed control and estimation algorithms are confirmed through simulations of two 2kW parallel connected single phase inverters.

In this paper, a voltage-current mode controller is proposed to adjust both the input current and DC voltage of a boost-inverter in order to improve the performance of the photovoltaic (PV). The proposed system is based on fuzzy-making-decision predictive voltage-current controller (FPVCC). The simulation results show that in case of using the proposed FPVCC, the input current of a PV array is in the limited value (i.e., is approximate 27% of the short-circuit current of a PV panel) compared with a classical voltage controller, an over-current is passing through PV array (i.e., is about 155% of the short-circuit current). Also, the waveform of the output voltage is sinusoidal with low total harmonic distortion (THD), i.e. 4.21%, and the power obtained from a PV array with FPVCC is approximately 6 times of power obtained without a controller.

The main goal of this study is the use of Lyapunov’s stability theory to a three-phase four-wire shunt active power filter (SAPF), since this method has been applied effectively to other areas of converter. The dynamic model of the SAPF is first established, after that, a combination of fuzzy tracking control and Lyapunov function is suggested in order to impose a desired transient waveform on the considered three-phase four-wire distribution grid, providing robustness and insensitivity to parameter changes. Furthermore, the suggested control technique guarantees appropriate tracking of the reference current components and simplifies the global control design. The feasibility of the suggested control method is validated using comprehensive simulation studies on a four-wire SAPF in order to compensate for nonlinear and unbalanced grid-connected loads in an electrical power distribution network.

Generally the generation units in the traditional structure of the electricity industry try to minimize their costs. However, in a deregulated environment, generation units are looking to maximize their profits in a competitive power market. Optimum generation planning in such structure is urgent. This paper presents a new method of solving economic dispatch in the competitive electricity market with the aim of maximizing the total contribution profit of power generation. In this regard, with a combination of two intelligent optimizations, a new efficient algorithm which called improved particle swarm optimization algorithm is suggested. The simulation of the new approach and conventional PSO algorithm were performed on two case study systems, 10-units and 15-units. According to the results, the suggested method not only resolves the convergence problem, but it also makes more efficient response.
